Well, it's been nearly a year since we launched Old50 Photography, and what a great and wonderful year it has been. I've learned so much in the past 11 months. It's been almost as long since I've updated this blog, if that’s any indication of just how busy the last year has been for me. Being a full time student, and a full time photographer is very challenging. I’m grateful that I have understanding clients who are sticking it out with me as I finish my education and establish my business.
Speaking of business, I want to give you all an update on a few things where that is concerned. My graduation date is in early October of this year, at which point I will refine and install my business model and regular pricing structure. Any changes to current pricing or options will become effective January 1st, 2014. Lots of exciting new things will be coming next year!
Currently, my classes are a huge commitment of about 6 to 10 hours per day. We had assignments due on Easter, no spring or summer break, and assignments due just about every Saturday and Sunday. The assignments get more and more challenging and time consuming with each course. At times it can be an enormous undertaking. In any event, when I graduate, just imagine how much time I’ll have to shoot more photos and develop our practices and products!! I’ll be able to update this blog more regularly and address some frequently asked questions.
Well, it’s 3am here in Old50 land. I’ve decided that when I’m laying on my death bed I won’t look back and wish I’d have gotten more sleep, but I’ll regret it if I sleep my life away. Unless, of course, I’m dying of sleep depravation! This is when I get most of my work done for now, when there are no distractions or pressing school assignments. When I graduate, I’m taking a couple of weeks off, one week to sleep, and one week to get out of dodge and take some photos in a tropical paradise somewhere! The ocean is good for the soul!
I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of my work and development. Many have taken the time to send messages and leave comments, and I just want you all to know that it really means a lot to me. I’ve been down a lot of roads trying to figure out what to do with myself in life, and I finally feel like I’m where I belong. It’s a blessing to wake up every day and do something that I love very much. I’m eternally grateful for that and for the many great clients who have made that possible. I’ll never take that for granted! Thank your from the bottom of my heart for the support and motivation!
One last thought. I’m kicking around the idea of conducting some photography workshops in the future. I’d like to know if there would be any interest in this, and what you all might want to learn about. If you would like to share your thoughts, please do.
Well I hope everyone is doing well out there in the cloud! Stay tuned for more updates!
